I’m in the process of developing a USB comparison review to see if spending buckets of cash on USB cables will really make a difference to the sound coming out of your computer audio setup. Before I start discussing the differences I can hear between different USB audio cables based on their various features, I thought it was important to share some information about how USB audio works and why cables should actually make a difference.
The following video is intentionally a layman’s explanation of USB audio (in no small part because I’m not an engineer), but I hope it will give you the basic information required to understand why the design of USB cables is actually important. As important as pure analog cables (RCAs, etc.)? Perhaps. Perhaps not, but they are important no matter how you look at it.
